Business news - Samsung has recently announced that its new folding phone (model: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2) launches on September 18, 2020, for $1,999. The unique folding model will be soon sold by all of the major U.S. carriers, such as AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is Samsung's 3rd folding phone, which follows the original Samsung Galaxy Fold that had some durability problems and the Galaxy Z Flip. Besides this news, Samsung will also launch around the same time as Surface Duo by Microsoft, which is another folding phone model that probably will hit the market on September 10, 2020.
At one glance, the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 model looks a bit like a regular, standard phone from its outside, exterior along with a new 6.2-inch screen on the front side of the phone. That replaces a far smaller one on the other older version. The new Samsung opens up into a tablet along with a 7.6-inch screen, which is much larger than the last year's 7.3-inch inner display phone.
Samsung uses a redesigned hinge on its new model - the Galaxy Z Fold 2. That should help this model to avoid some of the common problems that allow debris to get under the phone's screen that later causes it to malfunction. The hinge design of the phone is mostly based on the Galaxy Z Flip, which is a more traditional clamshell-style device that hasn't experienced any issues. Samsung also mentioned that the display of its new model is a bit stronger than the original, though it is still not as strong as the glass that is used on standard mobile phones. So, users should be far more careful about applying too much pressure to its screen.
Besides, Samsung said that it focuses on 5G and foldable displays as well. At its price, it's luxury for people who either like new technology, like foldable screens, or those who have a disposable income. But, it is a forward-looking product that shows what can be the standard in mobile phones. These models are smaller in pockets but have a big, two tablet-sized screen.
As mentioned above, Microsoft's Surface Duo (folding phone) is also getting ready to hit the market on September 10, 2020. It is noteworthy to say that its device doesn't have a screen on the outer side, but instead, it has two screens on the inside that can be used to run multiple application side by side, or even to see more info inside of a single application. But, unlike the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, the Microsoft Surface Duo has a bigger hinge in the middle of those two screens.
Samsung added that it's per top-end feature that is available right now, include latest Qualcomm's Snapdragon 865+ processor, the support for 5G networks, several cameras for zoom and wide-angle photos, wireless charging, etc. Moreover, this mobile device is designed with new several multitasking features, that include options that allow users to launch three selected applications at the same time automatically. That means users can quickly open their email app, Spotify, YouTube and have all of them running next to one other in little windows on the phone's main screen.
Also, it has a new "Flex Mode" that allows users to do more while the device is propped halfway open, for instance, to view photos while taking pictures. The phone will launch along with a new VIP experience called "Z Premier Service". That function provides first-in-line customer support, a Founders Card membership, 1:1 tutorials, and more.
